Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaners
Wet dry vacuum cleaners are no
longer simply for a workshop.
Over the years, the technology has improved
tremendously, deceasing the loud screeching noises that the
vacuums were known for.
When you head out to shop for wet dry vacuum
cleaners, there are some details you should know. The
vacuums come in a number of different sizes and HP. The amount
of gallons can range from 6 to 22 while the horsepower can be
as low as 1.5 and as high as a shopping 10.5 HP. The capacity
of the wet/dry vacuum ought to match your desires in several
ways.
1. Wall mount vacuum cleaners with
1.5 HP and a 1 gallon tank are available for quick and easy
cleanup jobs, like spills. You'll be able to hang
this vacuum on the wall, which can keep it out of your way.
2. The six gallon vacuum cleaners
are ideal for smaller jobs and are easier to maneuver and store
than a bigger model. Bear in mind however, that the
smaller wet/dry cleaners are much louder and also pose a
greater risk of tipping over. The smaller the tank, the
more often you may have to stop and empty it.
3. Higher capacity models are
suggested if you have a workshop or garage where larger spills
and mishaps can occur. A giant capability tank can
decrease the amount of times that you have got to empty the
tank.
If you are looking for the best wet/dry vac,
there are several features you will need:
- The pleated cartridge filter. It's reusable
and rinseable, and gives you more filtration space than the
flat filter. And it does not have to be removed when you switch
from the dry to wet vacuum function.
- An automatic shut off device is
offered with most newer vacuum cleaners. This is a great
feature to have as it will prevent overflows by shutting down
the motor when the tank becomes full.
- You want a vacuum with wide
wheels to make it harder to tip over.
- Some of the larger models that
have the flexibility to convert into a leaf blower, which is
nice if you've got a large amount of trees in your yard.
- Some wet/dry models have a
engineered in pump attachment as well. This type of
attachment can
enable the water to be pumped through a garden hose that
attaches to the vacuum.
- A handy drain valve or sprout can
make emptying the vacuum cleaner much easier. If it
doesn't
have this feature, you will have to remove the lid and tip the
vacuum on its side to empty all of
the water. Depending on how much water you've got in the
tank, spilling the contents on the floor can be a real problem
without the valve. The smaller varieties of wet/dry
vacuums typically will not have a spout or drain option.
- Wider hoses and floor nozzles are
great to possess as well. The wider the hose and
nozzle
are, the less chance there is of the the vacuum clogging
up.
There are also a few attachments that should be
purchased if they don't come with the model you decide to
get:
1. Crevice tool - this handy tool
easily gets in tight corners and around floor edges.
2. Extension wand - this can make
the hose longer for areas that are hard to reach
.
3. Hose couplings - this can join the extension
wand to the hose.
4. Combination nozzle - this helps
to alleviate the task of changing nozzles before you switch
functions.
5. Gulper nozzle - this tool
perfect for the wet vacuum function.
6. Round brush - this nifty little
tool is good if you need to do some scrubbing.
7. Cleaning kit - this kit includes
all the tools you need to clean delicate upholstery and other
areas also.
